Lim Guan Eng , mana you mahu lari ?.

Press Statement Baljit Singh
Gerakan Legal and Human Rights Bureau Chairman
9 June 2017

*Time to stop the lies*

I would like to refer to two projects namely:

(1) Tanjung Pinang
(2) Jelutong Highway Land

which have been repeatedly referred to by the State Government.

(1) Tanjung Pinang is a 980 acres land which was supposedly "sold" for RM 1 psf under the previous BN government. In fact, there was no land sold as it is a land reclamation concession. Furthermore, 37% of the land reclaimed would be returned to  KGM-PDC in which 47 acres were handed back to the Penang State Government for free. Under phase 2 (STP 2) which 760 acres were reclaimed, 191 acres was handed back to the people of Penang.

(2) The second allegation is that the BN Government sold the Jelutong Highway land for RM 20 psf. This was a privatisation   project signed in 1997, i.e. 20 years ago. As we all know prices of land was much lower 20 years ago compared to today. This project was awarded by way of Open Tender to Jelutong Development Sdn Bhd (JDSB). In addition, JDSB has to reclaim the land at its own cost. They also have to build 5500 low cost unit flats for the people. There were also other considerations such as maintaining the Highway and it was also agreed the highway will be toll free - and all of this would be borne by JDSB. It is interesting to know that the prices of those houses would be between RM 25,000 to
RM 50,000 unlike the "affordable" housing which is priced between RM 300,000 to RM 400,000 by the current state government.

(3) The current state government is only interested in tarnishing the previous state government's reputation. In fact, they have sold more land in Penang between the year 2011 to 2017  (approximately 6 years) compared to any other states. The prices and land sold is in the diagram below.

(4) Gerakan is considering taking legal action against the Chief Minister for his repeated misinformation of facts and misleading the people of Penang in order to tarnish the previous BN State Government led by Gerakan. Gerakan respects the individual right of expression and the freedom of speech but maintain that the truth must be brought forward and the spinning of facts must be stopped. Upon getting the clearance, the Gerakan Legal Team will proceed with the appropriate legal action.

Thank You.
